Use cedar shoe trees after every wear and let leather rest for a day between wears. Clean, feed and polish with a cream matched to the leather, such as Saphir.

A Goodyear welt stitches the sole to the upper, so a worn sole can be replaced again and again.
03 · The sole
Leather soles for elegance; studded Dainite or rubber for grip on wet British pavements.
